    SpaceX, the rocket company founded by Elon Musk, plans to surround Earth with Starlink satellites and provide global high-speed, low-latency internet service from orbit.

    SpaceX has launched nearly 800 Starlink internet satellites , with plans for a constellation of 42,000 spacecraft this decade.
    The company says its satellites can avoid collisions using an ion drive, but about 3% have seemingly failed because they are no longer maneuvering in orbit, according to astronomer Jonathan McDowell.
