    In-kind donations of items such as food, clothing, and toiletries are often the last thing that is needed after disasters.
    Delivering things that people on the ground need doesn't help as much as giving them money to buy what they need.
    At worst, disaster zones become dumping grounds for inappropriate goods that delay actual relief efforts.
