    The Environmental Protection Agency announced in August a plan to freeze fuel economy standards and revoke the ability of California to set more stringent rules than the national ones.
    These standards were originally set in place by the EPA so carmakers would be legally bound to innovate more efficiency into their vehicles.
    Recently however, the Trump administration has argued that such regulations may be "too stringent," and is fighting state governments to remove these fuel economy standards.
