    In 2018, 1.4 billion international travelers embarked on overseas trips. Overtourism in recent years led to some European cities struggling to cope with influx of tourists, affecting local residents and putting a strain on local ecosystems and infrastructure.
    The WTTC said that the travel and tourism sector contributes 10.4 percent to global GDP, creating one in five new jobs over the last five years.
